It certainly would not be an understatement to say that nearly every parent needs a baby sitter at some point in their child’s life. No matter what the reason for needing a sitter – everyone can agree that they want a responsible person or establishment watching over their children. Aside from using babysitters or nannies, a day care center is a very safe place to leave your child. A number of different programs are offered for all ages to help relieve the daily stresses of parenthood.

Day care programs are a stimulating environment for children. They are given the opportunity to interact with other children and enjoy different activities throughout the day. Children will naturally pick up on social skills along with other behavioral skills, depending on what age they are. For example, there are programs for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school age children.

For infants: This age range is typically from 6 weeks up to 9 months. They have spacious CLEAN rooms for infants to roll, crawl, and explore. Day care facilities are filled with stimulating toys to help enhance an infant’s emotional, language, social, and sensory skills. The next step up from infant programs would be for children that are 9-14 months and this environment is just a tad more organized and may have activities planned for the kids to participate in.

For toddlers: Children from 15 months up to 3 years of age are generally considered to be toddlers, and there is nothing like a little help when a child is going through the "terrible twos"! The toddler community is great to help children develop their language and do-it-yourself skills. This is a curious and anxious age and day care takers are passionate about stimulating a toddler’s hunger for knowledge.

For preschoolers: Programs for preschoolers are a mixture between fun and learning. It is a given that the children will have fun and enjoy the games and playground, but the real benefit comes from the reading and writing skills practiced in preschool day care programs. Classrooms in the day cares are there to help develop these beginning skills.

For school age children: There are many useful services for school age children that a day care program can offer. Whether it be before school, after school, or both, children are provided with activities and areas to either do homework or enjoy free time. Field trips and summer camps are something that school age children have to look forward to at day care. Also, transportation to and from school is available to those that need it.
